Introduction

About

The Data-Centric Digital Rights (DCDR) Framework, an initiative by The IO Foundation, is a pioneering effort to empower technologists to protect digital citizens and their digital twins by embedding rights-focused principles into technology design. Comprising Principles, Taxonomies, and technical tools, the DCDR Framework provides a structured approach to understanding data’s nature and its implications for digital rights. It aims to shift technology paradigms by enabling technologists to act as Next Generation Rights Defenders, ensuring privacy, transparency, and user empowerment are built into digital systems by design. Through advocacy, publications, and global engagement, the DCDR Framework seeks to create a world where technology transparently upholds citizens’ rights.
